As you'd might expect, my thoughts are turning to Rio and how long it might be before I see Ali again. I turned to the reliable lot on facebook and got this reply from Alistair Reid:
I reckon they are stuck for another 24 hours, then after 2 and a half days motoring there will still be 2000miles to go. At an average speed of 200 that's another 10 days. So I would say its about 2 weeks from today!
That makes it 1st October. I fly out on the 25th Sept, so hopefully I don't have to wait too long.
Looking at the tracker it seems Missi is getting stuck in a wind hole. UNICEF is pulling away and it seems the wind hole is set to engulf them over the next 24 - 36 hours. Lets hope not.
The 2100 update is now showing Missing turning in a respectable 7.5kts. Let's hope that's enough to get them out of trouble.
I've been doing some calculations:
I obviously have too much time on my hands! They've been sailing for 17.3 days and have covered 2529miles - That's 146.2 miles a day. With 2671 miles to the finish I make that 18.27 days to Rio!
