Spoke to Ali today.

I actually spoke to Ali today. Not text speak, but actual words on the telephone!

They were passing the Canaries and Ali obviously picked up a signal. So she took the opportunity to call. It really made my day. To hear her voice was fantastic. Just brought it home to me how much I'm missing her.
It was really odd to be speaking about the wedding. Apart from the proposal on the day that they set sail from St. Kat's we haven't spoken about it! It's so exciting - if a bit scary!

The call seemed to pass far too quickly and before too long she was gone. Ali had just finished her watch and so, at 8:30am she was bunkering down to get some sleep...... but not before she sent me a short video clip.

So, at the start of day 10, Missi is showing as being 10th on the leaderboard - but the map is showing them being 6th. It's how Clipper calculates the positions. Distance to the finish - but as Ali said to me, as the boats line up to scoot down to Cape Verde the positions will sort themselves out. And sure enough, they've "gone up" to 6th place! Go! Missi!
So Cape Verde is the next time the fleet will pick up a mobile phone signal. (I don't think there is a mobile phone service in the Western Sahara!!). As the crow flies, Cape Verde is 750 miles to the south west. Even at 10knots that's going to take Missi 5 to 7 days! So it's going to be a while before I hear Ali's voice again.
