RACE 1 - DAY 2 CREW DIARY - GAVIN REID - LONDON, UK TO RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL 02 SEPTEMBER

It is already proving difficult to remember what day of the week it is, the routine of the watch system has settled quite quickly and keeping track of the days is tough!

Since our last update we have raced on a northerly course past Isle of Wight and Portland, contrary to our rivals who have headed south already. As a result we have fallen down the leaderboard and as of 0600 Tuesday we were in eleventh place to the dismay of the Warriors. Fortunately our latest update (1800 Tuesday) show us in eighth place which has raised our hope and we will continue to fight.

Meanwhile, myself and Brian have been unable to enjoy today's racing as we have been on 'Mother' watch and what drama there was! We cooked 24 baked potatoes and made a homemade coleslaw which went down well.

There was more difficulty cooking four fish pies at 70 degree angle sauce was all over the place including down my brand new Henri Lloyd salopettes! More spillage was to follow with Brian getting cake mix and chocolate angel delight over his shiny white shirt! It was certainly a interesting first 'Mother' watch and this was only in the English Channel and we will have to contend with the Southern Ocean in the future!
Will post next Wednesday with more Mission Performance news!
